Frozen Kong recipes

Freezing your dog’s Kong will certainly increase the time it takes them to get all of the food out.

They are also fantastic in the hot weather to help your dog to cool down.  Another benefit is that, because it keeps them occupied for some time, it can help with behavioural issues like separation anxiety.

Ideas for Frozen Kong recipes

  • Blend approximately 120g cooked brown rice, 100ml salt-reduced chicken stock, a dessertspoon of cooked peas and a dessertspoon of cooked carrots
  • 50g cooked, mashed pumpkin, 50g cooked, mashed sweet potato and 1 tablespoon of soft cheese
  • ¼ cup yoghurt and ¼ cup peanut butter (ensure it does not contain xylitol as this is poisonous for dogs)

So that food doesn’t ooze out when it freezes block the hole at the bottom with something like dry treat. Then wrap the Kong in cling film so that all the filling stays in the Kong.
