Frequently Asked Questions

About Our Pet Franchise Opportunities

How long is the franchise agreement?

Your agreement is for five years with an option to renew for another five years.

How many hours per week would I need to work?

You will be running your own business and how hard you work and how you treat your customers will directly affect your income.  When you’re building up a new territory you will need/want to work at least 50 hours per week.  Once you have established yourself in your territory you may work 30 hours some weeks and 50 hours some weeks.  October and November get very busy with people wanting to book for Christmas.  It is also possible to run the franchise on a part-time basis working 20 hours a week over at least four days.

Can I work flexible hours?

You can work flexible hours to a certain extent.  If you need to make a personal appointment during business hours you can do this and then work a little later returning calls when you get back to your office.  When you are out doing your marketing you can do some shopping.  However, your goal should be to run a successful business and you need to remember that you need to put in the effort to get the returns.

Do I need to live on acreage?

No, you will have minders who are looking forward to minding dogs but you can also mind dogs yourself if you have a secure environment.

Can I run the business from home?

Yes, it is a home based business.  All you need is a pleasant working area where you won’t be interrupted and where you can enjoy spending your day.

Will I spend all my time in my home office?

You will spend about 70% of your time working in your home office.  In order for your business to grow you will need to spend 30% of your time out of the office promoting your business.

What sort of support can I expect?

You won’t be on your own as you can call on the expertise of head office.  You will also be working with a team of franchisees who are happy to help each other.

I don’t know anything about marketing a business. What sort of help is available?

Head office will guide you in all aspects of marketing your business.
